These words are full of hope, especially for this Jubilee year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year's theme is 'Missionaries of hope among all peoples'. The pope highlights the importance of missionary movements in developing countries, but he says it's crucial to focus on wealthy countries as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In the most technologically advanced nations, \u201cproximity\u201d is disappearing<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pope says that the \u201cobsession with efficiency and an attachment to material things and ambitions are making\u201d people \u201cself-centred and incapable of altruism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World Mission Day is held on the penultimate Sunday of October every year. It was created by Pope Pius XI in 1926.
