Thousands of people from all around the world came to witness Pope Leo the 14th's first public Wednesday audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saint Peter's Square was packed, which caused concern that the crowd would become chaotic, but according to visitors who attended, the feeling was quite the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"But just being here is wonderful. We're elated. It's just such a wonderful feeling, all the people from everywhere. And they're friendly. Very friendly, very nice, no pushing of each other.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In fact, many people within the crowd were overcome with emotion at the sight of the new Pope and upon hearing his message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \"It was surreal. I couldn't believe I was experiencing it. I couldn't believe he was right in front of us. I teared up thinking about him giving us his blessing. A beautiful experience.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \"But I like the idea that he cares about people, all people. That's beautiful. Makes me cry.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Pope Leo's message to the crowd focused on peace and the parable of the sower. He invited the crowd to never limit how much love they give in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n POPE LEO XVI<\/strong> This call to love was apparently felt by the audience. Father Tomasz Podlewski had a front row seat for Pope Leo's first Wednesday audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \"The last thing for me (that's) important is that Pope Leo loves Jesus very much. He has a very deep relationship with Jesus, and this is the source of his closeness to people.
