It will take place on June 13 at 9 a.m. in the Apostolic Palace. The Pope will meet with the College of Cardinals to vote on several causes for canonization.

The meeting will pick up where Pope Francis left off before his death. On February 25th, Pope Francis approved two canonization causes from the hospital.

Later, on March 31, another decree was issued by the Dicastery, giving the green light to two more causes — all of them still without a confirmed date for the canonization ceremonies.

Among the future saints, it is expected that Pope Leo and the cardinals will finalize the canonization of two Venezuelans: José Gregorio Hernández, known as the “doctor of the poor,” and Carmen Rendiles, founder of the Servants of Jesus in Venezuela.

However, the most anticipated decision is the rescheduling of the canonization of Carlo Acutis. The original date was set for April 27, during the Jubilee for Adolescents, but the ceremony could not take place.

Canonization includes a papal rite, so the pope must be present. At that time, the Vatican was in sede vacante (a vacant seat), so the event had to be postponed.
CA
Trans.
