SUMMARY OF THE POPE'S CATHEQUESIS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dear Brothers and Sisters, In this sense, he stands before Jesus in all his vulnerability, trusting in the Lord\u2019s power to restore his sight. We too, recognizing our own need for healing, are asked to come to the Lord in all our frailty, leaving behind our own \u201ccloaks\u201d \u2013 our securities and comfort zones \u2013 in order to experience his healing power. During this Jubilee of hope, may we too receive the grace to see all things anew in the light of faith, and to follow the Lord in freedom and newness of life.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I extend a warm welcome to the English-speaking pilgrims and visitors taking part in today\u2019s Audience, especially those coming from England, Scotland, Belgium, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Canada and the United States of America. In our continuing catechesis on the Jubilee theme of \u201cJesus Christ our Hope,\u201d today we consider yet another aspect of the life and ministry of Jesus, namely, his miracles of healing. In the reading we heard, the blind Bartimaeus cries out to Jesus with a plea that is itself an act of faith: \u201cJesus, have mercy on me!\u201d It is significant that, when Jesus asks Bartimaeus to come to him, the blind beggar immediately throws off his cloak, his one possession and the sole source of his security.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
