The fraud emerged especially around June 29, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. That is the day the Church holds the well-known Peter\u2019s Pence collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is an annual initiative in which money is raised to support the Pope\u2019s charitable works and the mission of the Holy See.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s why the Vatican had to clarify that the only official way to donate is through the official Peter\u2019s Pence website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
