Every December 8th, the same scene is repeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Early in the morning, Italian firefighters gather in Piazza di Spagna. They are the first to honor Mary on the day the Church celebrates the solemnity of her Immaculate Conception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December, they get a \"bird's-eye view\" from above. However, in August, they have opted for a \"fish-eye view\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of above the Roman rooftops, some members of the Italian fire department have traveled to the coastal region of Liguria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There, they encountered the Christ of the Abyss, a statue located at a depth of almost 60 feet. It was an opportunity to carry out maintenance work on the statue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Made of bronze extracted from medals, bells, and naval material, the sculpture stands at eight feet tall. It was submerged on August 22, 1954, as a tribute to the deceased divers.
