Pope Leo presided over the ceremony in St. Peter\u2019s Basilica, a rite that is also celebrated in various churches across the Eternal City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alejandro, an engineering student, is among those who had the blessing of receiving baptism in Rome this year. His parents are from China, and he, born in Spain, took this step at 18 years old while studying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALEJANDRO JI JI<\/strong><br>Engineering Student<br><em>Since I was little, I always felt a restlessness, a sense that the Lord God was calling me to do something better, to serve others, mainly. And that gradually grew as I got older.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His education at a Catholic school and the friendship of some classmates have been key to discovering the essence of the faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALEJANDRO JI JI<\/strong><br>Engineering Student<br><em>Charity seems to me a very important point in the Christian faith, because it\u2019s about loving others, right? For example, I\u2019ve participated in quite a few volunteer activities following others, and yes, even by doing just a little\u2026 you can help a lot of people. Because people already have many problems in their lives, and with just a little, you can make them happy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a secularized society, there is something that the younger generations feel is missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALEJANDRO JI JI<\/strong><br>Engineering Student<br><em>I\u2019ve noticed that more people, in the society we live in now, since everything moves so fast, are looking for something\u2026 They live very fast. And in the end, they live without feeling anything inside, something is missing, and they need to satisfy it with the Spirit of the Lord, with the spirit of faith.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On his journey to baptism, there is one book that has particularly influenced him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALEJANDRO JI JI<\/strong><br>Engineering Student<br><em>A very small, well-known book by Saint Josemar\u00eda, which is the one I began reading. It\u2019s quite basic, but it helps to start this whole journey of faith. Right? Who is God? And everything. It\u2019s called 'The Way.'<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alejandro experienced Holy Week in Rome with a group from Opus Dei in San Sebasti\u00e1n, Spain.
