The situation in Bamenda is very complex: the territory has been the scene of a prolonged internal war known as the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although there is a temporary ceasefire, the situation remains tense: there is recurring violence, kidnappings, armed clashes, and displacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this reason, Leo XIV\u2019s visit to this place carried a profound message of peace, which he delivered in the Cathedral of Saint Joseph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>POPE LEO XIV<\/strong><br><em>I amhere to proclaim peace. Yet I find it<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>is you who are proclaiming peace to me, and to the entire world. As one of you observed, the crisis impacting these regions of Cameroon has brought Christian and Muslim communities closer than ever before. Indeed, your religious leaders have come together to establish a Movement for Peace,through which they seek to mediate between the opposing sides.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the pope had the opportunity to listen to various testimonies from people who have experienced the war firsthand and whose lives have been completely changed by the conflict, as was the case for Cameroonian citizen Denis Salo, a father of a large family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DENIS SALO<\/strong><br>Cameroonian victim of the war<br><em>When the war broke out in 2017, these drinks were banned, and those of us who sold these drinks them were persecuted.
