This is linked to the treatment of five elderly nuns under their care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elderly nuns, aged between 87 and 101, reportedly lived in poor sanitary conditions and without adequate care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former nuns deny all the charges and declare themselves \u201ccompletely innocent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, they describe the legal proceedings as \u201cpersecution\u201d and a \u201cwitch hunt,\u201d claiming that the case is a response to their decision to separate from the Catholic Church and defend their religious convictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The so-called \u201cBelorado case\u201d began in May 2024, when the community publicly announced its separation from the Holy See.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conflict over canon law, property rights, and legal matters has included the excommunication of the nuns and their eviction from the monastery in Burgos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
