What started out as a vacation in Malawi ended up becoming the ONLUS AMAS association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ROSARIA TRIONFO<br><\/strong>President, ONLUS AMAS Association<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This association was born, <\/em><em>first and foremost<\/em><em> <\/em><em>at<\/em><em> <\/em><em>the<\/em><em> parish <\/em><em>level<\/em><em>, because it was our desire, mine and my husband's, to do something for Third World children.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then, they have dug wells and built schools, outpatient clinics for mothers, hospitals, religious houses as well as boarding schools. But why Malawi?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ROSARIA TRIONFO<br><\/strong>President, ONLUS AMAS Association<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>One of our parish priests, Fr. Aldo Bolis, went <\/em><em>on his first <\/em><em>mission and brought back a photo of a little girl who could be sponsored; almost adopted from afar. This girl was sponsored by our parish chapel, but tragically died several years later. This <\/em><em>motivated<\/em><em> us to help many other children <\/em><em>who were <\/em><em>in difficult situations.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behind every project is a personal story, such as that of Nicholas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ROSARIA TRIONFO<br><\/strong>President, ONLUS AMAS Association<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>At first, we helped him so he could go to school. Later, he wanted to become a priest, but then he met a girl, changed his mind, and got married. Now he\u2019s a family man. It was a wonderful experience because he was able to go to school, and he\u2019s currently the assistant principal of a school. He\u2019s a very intelligent young man.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This couple's mission has even been passed down to their daughters. Although the founder's husband has passed away. the legacy they built together continues, reaching even their grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SUSY FABRIZI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foundation Associate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The enthusiasm that our grandparents passed on, to me and then to my husband, has been passed on to our children as well. <\/em><em>It's something<\/em><em> that... it's as if there<\/em><em>'s<\/em><em> an invisible thread connecting our lives.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An initiative born from an Italian couple, which continues to write new chapters in Malawi today... and also within their own family as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beatriz Alonso de Medina More than 30 years ago, a trip changed the life of an Italian married couple.
