Pope Benedict XVI beatified him in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>POPE LEO XIV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On that day, the liturgy commemorates Fr. <\/em><em>W\u0142adys\u0142aw Findysz, a priest and the first Pole to be beatified as a martyr of the communist persecutions. During the Second Vatican Council, he provided spiritual support for its work, involving the faithful in the \u201cconciliar work of goodness\u201d through acts of charity and mroal renewal.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Returning to the catechetical portion of the audience, the pope reflected on the role of music in the liturgy. Pope Leo XIV was clear: music is not merely decoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>POPE LEO XIV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Music, in fact, is part of the liturgical action and not merely a decorative element of the celebration. In the liturgy, singing and playing music means praying, attuning one's heart to that of one's sisters and brothers and to God, through active participation in the mystery being celebrated.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The audience, held inside St. Peter\u2019s Basilica, brought together people from around the world. A large group of pilgrims from Lebanon was also there.
