Leo XIV received the Federation of Capuchin Poor Clare Nuns of Italy at the Vatican, at a time when female religious communities face one of their greatest challenges: a decline in vocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The federation brings together monasteries across several regions of Italy, as well as affiliated communities in Brazil, Mozambique and Benin. Its history began precisely because monasteries needed to overcome their isolation. Today, the challenge is different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
LEO XIV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A reduced number of vocations, in particular, could push someone to make decisions about closing or withdrawing. But I want to repeat what I have said about the future of dioceses and seminaries in Italy. Let us try to change our perspective when we look at this reality.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The decline is not limited to contemplative communities.
