They have begun with a meeting with the pope.<br><br>All the presidents of episcopal conferences and heads of Eastern Catholic Churches, along with experts from various countries, are present for this gathering.<br><br>Before the conferences and working groups began, they took a moment to pray with the pope.<br><br>The document discusses the family, and Pope Leo XIV emphasized its importance.<br><br><strong>POPE LEO XIV<\/strong><br><em>Families themselves participate in the Church\u2019s mission in the ordinary fabric of their lives, through love and fidelity, care and forgiveness, the education of children, their efforts in transmitting faith, attention to the elderly and the vulnerable, and the many ways in which they serve their communities and society. In all these ways, families bear witness to the Gospel and contribute to the life and<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>mission of the Church.<br><br><\/em>The pope gave the bishops some guidance for these days of work. He encouraged them to support families and listen to their lived experiences.<br><em><br><\/em>He also acknowledged that many young people search for true love but struggle to see themselves into it, and invited Church leaders to ask themselves what people are looking for and how they are responding to these concerns.<br><em><br><\/em>He then urged everyone to pay special attention to fragility.<br><em><br><\/em><strong>POPE LEO<\/strong><br><em>The experience of fragility raises the question of whether we are able to remain close to one another when life no longer corresponds to what had been hoped for, and whether we can recognize the work of grace even in situations marked by limits, wounds and apparent failure.<br><br><\/em>Pope Francis invited the bishops to share their experiences regarding the implementation of Amoris Laetitia in recent years. These insights will help in seeking new ways to include all the baptized in the synodal journey.<br><em><br><\/em>At the start of the session, Cardinal Kevin Farrell spoke about the importance of the family in Christian life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CARD. KEVIN FARRELL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is within the family that relationships, emotions, faith, and life choices take shape. Building strong and authentically Christian families is the prerequisite for having, in the near future, a Church that is alive and firmly rooted in the Gospel.
