He landed at 4:20 p.m. at Carrasco International Airport in Montevideo, Uruguay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was welcomed by President Yamand\u00fa Orsi and Church leaders, including Cardinal Daniel Sturla, Archbishop of Montevideo; Bishop Milton Tr\u00f3ccoli, president of the Uruguayan Episcopal Conference; and Apostolic Nuncio Gianfranco Gallone, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Children presented him with flowers, while the military rendered honors. A private welcome ceremony followed at the military air base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the flight, Pope Leo XIV sent telegrams to the countries he flew over, as is customary.
