2016-03-03

After the general audience, an emotionally thrilled Placido Domingo, accompanied by his family, greeted Pope Francis and gave him some gifts. The meeting was brief but the pontiff and tenor were able to exchange a few words.

The legendary Spanish tenor participated in the general audience with the rest of the pilgrims and joined his voice in chanting the Pope's name.

The 75-year-old, Madrid-born tenor regretted not having yet sung before Pope Francis as he did on previous occasions before John Paul II... or Benedict XVI.
