The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. WYD Krakow 2016 unveils its logo

2014-07-03

WYD in 2016 has a new logo. It's designed in blue, red and yellow, the three colors of the city of Krakow.

The logo is surrounded by a red border representing Poland's outline. Within it, a yellow dot marks the location of Krakow. The center of attention is the cross, representing Jesus Christ. The light of the Divine Mercy emanates from it in blue and red hues, the same colors as the famed image, reading "Jesus, I trust in You.” It's also tied to the theme for the event: "Blessed are the merciful.”

The contest to design the WYD logo began on January 15. The winners were two young Polish women that completed their design at the Vatican, after the canonization of John Paul II.

Organizers also released the official prayer centered on the Divine Mercy. It invokes the intercession of Our Lady and St. John Paul II, patron saint of WYD in Krakow 2016.
