Pope Francis welcomed two new Ambassadors to the Vatican.
From Germany 59 year old Annette Schavan presented her credentials to Pope Francis. She served as a minister of culture under the government of Angela Merkel, but she left in 2013 after being accused of plagiarizing her thesis.
The second ambassador is Tamar Grdzelidze from Georgia. She has a doctorate degree in Philosophy and Theology from Oxford University. She has also authored several books on ecumenism.
The Holy See and Georgia established diplomatic relations in 1992.
