Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope meets with the ill in Naples

2015-03-23

Pope Francis had an emotional meeting with a group of ill people in Naples' New Jesus Basilica.

With about 800 people in attendance, the Pope said that often it's difficult to approach an ill person, because it reminds people of their own vulnerabilities.

POPE FRANCIS
"When someone has a life long disease, when these diseases mark an entire life, we prefer to hide them, because visiting a sick person entails facing the disease that we have inside ourselves.”

The Pope also said that one can only understand the mystery of disease through the crucified Christ

He thanked health professionals for their work and reminded them that when medicine becomes a business, its true purpose is lost.

Afterward, the Pope greeted the sick. Many people attended the meeting, including some in stretchers.
