They changed their soccer jerseys for suits and ties, after the match between Italian team La Roma and its counterpart from Germany, Bayern Mí¼nchen.

The players seemed somewhat tired as they got off the bus. Inside the Vatican, the Pope made reference to their 7 to 1 victory against the Italian team.

'I heard about yesterdayâ??s match. No comment.â?

It's no secret that Pope Francis is a big soccer fan. In fact, he talked about a game played back in 1986 where Karl-Heinz Rummenigge played. Now her serves as a team manager.

'I remember that game back in 86' because I was studying in Frankfurt.â?

He then talked about the power of sports and why they're especially important for kids.

'Sports have an educational dimension and for children this is very important.â?

The German team gave the Pope two gifts. A jersey with his name, signed by all the players  and then a soccer ball with a moving meaning.

'Next year, we'll have a charity match in your honor. From the ticket sales, we want to donate one million euros for charity projects and causes of your choice. This regardless of the faith, creed or color of the recipients.â?

The German team was in Rome to take part in the Champion's League match.
