In his Sunday Angelus, Pope Francis spoke about the troubles of the world, such as wars, revolutions or disasters, that sometimes feel as though they are too much to bear. Despite these trials, he said, God is always there in the midst of them all.

POPE FRANCIS

'Church history is full of examples of people who have supported terrible suffering and tribulations with serenity, because they felt with certainty they were firmly in the hands of God. He is a faithful Father, and a caring Father, who does not abandon his children. God never abandons us! We must have this certainty in our heart: God never abandons us!

The pope warned the pilgrims not to be deceived when problems seem overbearing, because with God's help, they can be solved.

POPE FRANCIS

'Jesus knows that there is always those who take advantage of others based on the need for human security. Therefore He says, 'Take heed that you not be deceived,' and He warns of the many false messiahs who would present themselves. Even today there are some!

He concluded the Angelus by uniting with the Bishops on the Italian day of Thanksgiving, asking for citizens to recognize and care for the Earth as a treasure. He reminded people that there are many in the world without basic needs such as food or water.
