It is the first time that a pope recognizes the degenerative disease known as Huntignton. He receives both the sick and their relatives from South America and other countries in the Paul VI Audience Hall.
Also in attendence is scientist Ignacio Muñoz-Sanjuan, journalist Charles Sabine and Senator Elena Cattaneo, who has been studying the disease for 20 years in his University of Milan laboratory. ;
