The Vatican doctrinal office has confirmed that a new document—that is expected to touch on highly controversial topics—will be released on Monday, April 8.
The subject of the document is human dignity. And the head of the Vatican Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, says it includes “a strong criticism of the immoral tendencies of contemporary society,” featuring issues like sex change, surrogacy and gender ideologies.
Theologians have been working on the document for the past fives years and it has also been reviewed by Pope Francis, who has often spoken out about these moral issues.
POPE FRANCIS
This is the harmful path of "ideological colonization," which eliminates differences, as in the case of the so-called gender culture, or puts reductive concepts of freedom before the reality of life. For example, boasting as an achievement a senseless "right to abortion," which is always a tragic defeat.
The document will be presented at a Vatican press conference on April 8 by Cardinal Fernández, who has served as the Vatican doctrinal head for 9 months.
