Among the Cardinal Electors, there is a large group of age fifty-somethings. One of them is even younger: the Ukrainian Mykola Bychok, who was born in 1980.
He is a Redemptorist and is now in Australia, caring for his compatriots who have emigrated there. The Pope made him a cardinal in the consistory of 2024. In that consistory, the Pope created four other of the youngest cardinals. On the one hand, there is eorge Jacob Koovakad, from India, organizer of papal flights, born in 1973.
On the other hand, there is the Lithuanian Rolandas Makrickas, born in 1972, whose office is in the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. In that consistory, the Pope also made the current vicar for the diocese of Rome, Baldassare Reina, who was born in 1970, a cardinal.
Finally, there is the Canadian Frank Leo, Archbishop of Toronto, born in 1971. The other Cardinal in his fifties is the Italian Giorgio Marengo, born in 1974. He was often seen at the Pope Francis' trip s to Mongolia, where Marengo currentrly resides as apostolic prefect of the capital.
