On June 13th, the canonization dates will be announced for eight blesseds—five men and three women—with very diverse backgrounds: an archbishop, three nuns, and four laypeople.
Two of them will become the first saints from Venezuela: José Gregorio Hernández, known as the “doctor of the poor,” and Carmen Rendiles, the nun who founded the Servants of Jesus in the country.
However, what has drawn the most attention is the absence of Carlo Acutis's canonization date. His name is not on the list of blesseds to be addressed at Pope Leo XIV’s first ordinary consistory.
This is not the first time something like this has happened with the young millennial. In May 2024, Pope Francis recognized a miracle attributed to him. Two months later, on July 1, a consistory was held, and, surprisingly, no date was set.
Then, four months later, the most unexpected thing happened. Pope Francis, without any prior notice, announced the date during a general audience.

I want to say that next year on the Day of Children... of Adolescents, I will canonize Blessed Carlo Acutis.
It was therefore the expectation that Pope Francis would preside over Carlo Acutis’s canonization on April 27th, during the Jubilee of Adolescents. However, the sede vacante (the period without a pope) prevented it, and the ceremony had to be postponed. So far, no new date has been announced.
Another blessed who also does appear on the list for the June 13th consistory is Pier Giorgio Frassati. Pope Francis had also announced the date of his canonization during the same general audience, but without a consistory at that time.

Next year, on the Youth Day, I will canonize Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.
Therefore, the date for Pier Giorgio, August 3rd, is already known, but still needs to be officially confirmed by protocol during the consistory. That’s why his name appears on the list, although in this case, the date of the canonization is not expected to change.
