During the Wednesday General audience of June 18, American political commentator, Ben Shapiro, met Pope Leo XIV.
Although of Jewish faith himself, Shapiro thanked the Pope for standing up for their common values.
I want to thank you to much for standing for eternal, Biblical values in the midst of so much darkness.
Shapiro then went on to joke that, although they are of different faiths, they could both agree that the Chicago White Sox winning the World Series in 2005 was a miracle.
Shapiro then gifted Pope Leo a signed baseball from that World Series, which the Pope was surprised and delighted by.
Later, on social media, Shapiro tweeted that it was an honor to meet the Pope and to present him with the signed baseball from his personal collection.
