Many priests have their own unique hobbies and Fr. Carmena is no exception. He has been drawing since his childhood and today, he uses his talents to illustrate bible scenes.

VÍCTOR CARMENA
Since I was very little, I have always drawn. My earliest memories are drawing with my brothers in the garden of my house. In my house, we all have always liked it. My grandfather is a watercolor painter and he used to teach his us to paint, he loved taking us with him.

For nearly five years, Fr. Carmena has been sharing his drawings on his Instagram profile. Many of his illustrations feature reflections from his prayer life.

I started to make some sketches, like schematic images where I was presenting and explaining what I wanted to do, highlighting some elements of the drawing and putting them in relation to different biblical scenes, or phrases of saints or popes to illuminate. One thing is the drawing where you can see the mystery that I wanted to represent and another thing is an explanation that allows you to go deeper.

Encouraged by his audience, Fr. Carmena put his drawings up for sale. They can be purchased through the Christian platform “Have a God time.”

All proceeds from the drawings go to social, missionary and religious formation projects.

Fr. Carmena's vocation is the priesthood but he also feels called to evangelize in another way: through his artistic talents.
