This is what Tor Vergata looks like right now. The site will host one of the most anticipated events during the first weekend of August: the Youth Jubilee.
More than a million young people from all over the world are expected to attend this major event. And the grand finale will be hosted here: a vigil and Mass with the Pope.
The young people will camp here on Saturday, August 2. Starting at 3:00 p.m., there will be music and testimonies, and at 8:30 p.m., the first event with the new Pope will take place: the prayer vigil. The following day, at 9:30 a.m., Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Mass.
Everything will happen here, under the Jubilee Cross from the year 2000 – the Jubilee that Pope Saint John Paul II presided over. The area has been arranged with screens so that the more than one million young attendees can follow along.
Although the majority of the activities will take place at Tor Vergata, various other events will take place throughout Rome. The first day, July 28, is reserved for the arrival and accommodation of pilgrims. There is scheduled to be a welcome Mass in St. Peter’s Square at 7:00 p.m on the second day. The third day will include dialogue sessions as well as cultural and artistic activities. There will be day of penitence on Friday, with the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation at the Circus Maximus.
