The letter sent by Pope Leo to the Dominicans is a call to action. Specifically, Pope Leo XIV encourages them to preach the Gospel in environments that present a challenge for the Church today.
The letter was sent on the occasion of the general chapter, whose objective is to reflect on how to proclaim the Gospel to four different groups: those who do not know Jesus, faithful Christians, those who have distanced themselves from the Church, and young people.
The foundation of the Dominicans dates back to the 13th century. Their style was innovative because, up until then, religious men lived in monasteries and did not go out to preach.
More than 800 years have passed since then, making it one of the oldest institutions in the Catholic Church. Several saints of this order stand out, including their founder and figures such as Saint Thomas Aquinas.
