Here are some images from Cardinal Pizzaballa's visit to Gaza. The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem met with the Catholic community, whose church was the target of an Israeli attack the day before. The attack left three dead and several injured, including the Argentinian parish priest, Gabriel Romanelli.
The cardinal traveled to Gaza as part of an ecumenical delegation alongside the Greek Orthodox Patriarch. Together with several other organizations, they secured access to food and medical supplies.
Pizzaballa also celebrated Mass at the Parish of the Holy Family, the only Catholic parish in Gaza. The parish complex is sheltering around 600 refugees, including many children, with whom pastoral activities continue, despite the conflict.
Pope Leo has also expressed his closeness to Catholics in Gaza on several occasions. After the bombing, and coinciding with Pizzaballa’s visit, he asked the Cardinal to convey his closeness to the Catholics during this very difficult time.
