The Pope will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption from Castel Gandolfo. He traveled there on Wednesday and will stay at least until Sunday. This will be the Pope's second visit to the town where the papal summer residence is located.
On August 15, he will celebrate Mass at the parish church of St. Thomas of Villanova in the central square. Afterward, as is customary, he will pray the Angelus with the faithful present.
The other central moment of this visit will be on Sunday the 17th. At 9:30 a.m., the Pope will travel to the shrine of Santa Maria della Rotonda to celebrate Mass with the needy people receiving assistance from the diocesan Caritas group.
At noon, he will pray the Angelus from the central square of Castel Gandolfo and then share lunch with people in need. This is a custom that Pope Francis used to carry out, especially on the World Day of the Poor, which he himself established, and which led to scenes like this in the Vatican.
