These two children kept shouting "Papa Leone" during the Angelus in Castel Gandolfo on August 15. They were also dressed in the Vatican colors: white and yellow. They also carried flags.
During the Pope's greeting after the Marian prayer, they managed to get security to let them in so they could meet the Pope up close. They waited at the threshold of the entrance to the papal residence until Pope Leo XIV saw them.
One of them was wearing a small pectoral cross, just like the one Pope Francis wore. The Pope saw it, spoke with them for a few minutes, and shook their hands.
