Several months have passed since the Catholic world woke up to the sad news of Pope Francis' death. But devotion to the Argentinian pope has not waned.
This is the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. As many know, it was one of his favorite places. Inside is the Salus Populi Romani, where he always returned before and after his travels.
His devotion to this basilica is what has made it his eternal home.
He was special. He was South American. He was other than the other Pope's… so yes, and he had a love for the poor and for the nature. And I think he put a sign.
It is precisely this affection that continues to drive many pilgrims to include a mandatory stop at his tomb in their tourist agendas.
That was a testament to his impact on the church and the worldwide church. People of all different nationalities coming to pay tribute. It's really special.
It was a powerful experience to get to pray for the repose of his soul. His dedication to Our Lady was so evident in his papacy

There's a sadness in the Pope's passing, but there's also a joy in the hope of the resurrection for him. And a lot of excitement with Pope Leo, our first American pope. And so mixed emotions.
You might remember her. She is the one who used to bring Pope Francis yellow flowers at every public event, like when the Pope left the hospital.
POPE FRANCIS

Her name is Carmen, and the Argentinian pope held her in high regard. She is one of the hundreds of pilgrims who continue to show the affection and devotion they had for the former pope.
