It remains unclear where Pope Leo XIV will live. For now, he remains in his apartment from when he was a cardinal, on the second floor of the Holy Office palace.
Although it is not official, everything indicates that he will move to the Apostolic Palace. This will happen once the renovation work is completed, which is expected by the end of September.
According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, he will not be alone. In addition to his personal secretary, a community of three or four Augustinian religious will also be with him.
This possible decision by the Pope is not surprising because, if there is one thing that the Augustinian order excels in, it is the importance of the community.
RICARDO MORALES
Press Chief of the Augustinians
Pope Leo XIV is an Augustinian pope. This does not mean that he is a pope exclusively for the Augustinians, but rather that he is a pope who cannot ignore or separate himself from the fact of community life, from the encounter with others, from the support and needs of his brothers and sisters.
Since occupying the Chair of Peter, Pope Leo has visited the order's General Curia several times to share lunch or even celebrate the Eucharist with his Augustinian brothers.
If this happens, Pope Leo XIV would become the first pope of the last century to combine the exercise of his Petrine ministry within a religious community.
