Pope Leo XIV has set foot in Castel Gandolfo again, this time to inaugurate a project left behind by Pope Francis: the Borgo Laudato Si.
His arrival at the gardens unfolded as follows. First, he traveled in an electric golf cart to the Garden of the Madonna. There he greeted some workers and their families and had a moment of prayer.
Shortly after, he got back in the car and continued admiring the gardens. In fact, he made a curious stop: he approached a pond to feed the fish that live there.
Look at him here. Pope Leo XIV stroked a calf and also stood next to two purebred Spanish horses.
Then, Pope Leo XIV toured the gardens again until he reached the site where the inauguration would take place. In his speech, he spoke these words:
POPE LEO XIV
ORIG ITALIAN
Borgo Laudato si' is a seed of hope, which Pope Francis has left us as a legacy,
a "seed that can bear fruit of justice and peace." And it will do so by remaining faithful to its mandate: to be a tangible model of thought, structure, and action, capable of fostering ecological conversion through
education and catechesis.
With this gesture, this space was inaugurated – a place intended to protect nature.
The Borgo Laudato Si is now open to children and adolescents who want to study ecology, to young people who want to participate in the proposed summer activities, or even to those who want to reconnect their faith with nature.
