In August, speculation began circulating about the possibility that Pope Leo XIV would move into the Apostolic Palace along with some religious members from his order.
However, an Augustinian who works in the Vatican sacristy, Jubanie Rey Baller, has denied that information. This is the message he posted on Facebook:
The Pope will resume the tradition of occupying the papal residence. It is no longer necessary for him to bring some of his brothers from the Order of Saint Augustine with him, as he often visits them in their convent within the Apostolic Palace. At the moment, there are three Augustinians living in the prima loggia of the Apostolic Palace.
Meanwhile, the pontiff continues to live in the Palace of the Holy Office, to the left of Bernini’s colonnade, which was also his residence during his time as a cardinal. He will remain there until the restoration work on the Vatican papal apartment is completed and the space becomes available to live in again.
