As part of the Jubilee and Synodal gathering promoted by the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM), Pope Leo XIV reflected on the value of the family and the profound meaning of the Jubilee of Hope.
POPE LEO XIV
The Jubilee also invites us to reflect on our roots: on the faith we received from our parents, on the persevering prayer of our grandmothers counting the beads of the rosary, on their simple, humble, and honest lives which, like leaven, sustained so many families and communities.
The Pope acknowledged that today’s families face many challenges and highlighted some of the main issues that, as he himself said, affect the dignity of the family.
POPE LEO XIV
The issues related to poverty, the lack of work and access to healthcare systems, the abuse of the most vulnerable, migration, wars. Public institutions and the Church have the responsibility to seek ways to promote dialogue and strengthen the elements in society that support family life and the education of its members.
Pope Leo concluded by reminding us that the family is both a gift and a task, and he invited everyone to rediscover the joy of encountering the Risen Christ as a force that sustains hope and opens paths to the future.
