King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Pope Leo XIV at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican on the afternoon of October 14. That morning, the Pope's schedule was full due to his visit to the Quirinal Palace, the residence of the President of the Italian Republic.
The last time the leader of the Hashemite dynasty was at the Vatican, accompanied by Queen Rania, was on the occasion of Pope Francis’ death, when they attended his funeral in St. Peter’s Square.
The royal couple also met with Pope Francis in a private audience in November 2022.
