As every Wednesday, Pope Leo XIV came out to greet the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square to hear his weekly catechesis.

This time, his words focused on the hope that is born from the resurrection of Christ, and he gave the following example:

POPE LEO XIV
Let us think of a water spring. What are its characteristics? It quenches thirst and refreshes creatures, it waters the earth and plants, it makes fertile and alive what would otherwise remain arid. It gives rest to the weary traveler by offering the joy of a refreshing oasis. A spring appears as a free gift to nature, to creatures, to human beings. Without water, one cannot live.

Pope Leo XIV wanted to explain with this example that Christ is “an inexhaustible source of life” to rely on in difficult moments. Like the water from a spring, Jesus brings comfort and renews the life of those who seek Him.

POPE LEO XIV
The Risen One guarantees arrival, He leads us home, where we are awaited, loved, and saved. Walking with Him means experiencing that we are upheld despite everything, satisfied and comforted in the trials and hardships that, like heavy stones, threaten to block or divert our path.

At the end of the audience, the Pope blessed those present, especially the children, the sick, and the elderly, while the Our Father was sung in Latin.
