Pope Leo XIV acknowledged that the synod is going through tensions, but he called for trust and patience so that they might be resolved.

He said this during the jubilee homily dedicated to the synod workers. There, he emphasized the importance of trusting the Holy Spirit to show the path that avoids conflicts within the Church.

POPE LEO XIV

This will help us live with confidence and with a renewed spirit the tensions that run through the life of the Church — between unity and diversity, tradition and newness, authority and participation — allowing the Spirit to transform them, so that they do not become ideological oppositions and harmful polarizations. It is not a matter of resolving them by reducing one to the other, but of allowing the Spirit to make them fruitful, so that they may be harmonized and directed toward common discernment.

In general, in his speeches about the synod, Pope Leo did not fail to recall his predecessor, Pope Francis.
