I pray for the families of all those who are suffering from this calamity, and I entrust to the Lord, through the intercession of the Holy Virgin, the souls of the deceased.
The pope asked for prayers for the dozens of people who have died or gone missing, and for all those who were affected.
It was the message he shared during one of the week’s public events, the Angelus, an event attended by thousands of people every week, where the pontiff usually comments on current events.
In the afternoon, the pope presided over the episcopal ordination of the nuncio to Iraq, the Polish priest, Father Wachowski.
This was the request he made to the Vatican diplomat, who is responsible for a region that is delicate from a religious point of view.
