Pope Leo XIV addressed the faithful during the this Wednesday's General Audience and spoke to them about universal fraternity

POPE LEO XIV
The fraternity given to us by Christ, who died and rose again, frees us from the negative logic of selfishness, division and arrogance, and returns us to our original vocation, in the name of a love and hope that are renewed every day.

The Pope's message to Polish pilgrims, in particular, was very direct. He referred to the anniversary of the First World War and described it as a ‘useless slaughter’.

POPE LEO XIV
Yesterday we commemorated the end of the ‘useless slaughter’ of the First World War, after which, for many peoples — including yours — the dawn of independence arrived. We give thanks to God for the gift of peace, of which, as St Augustine said, “there is absolutely nothing better”.

At the end of the Audience, the Our Father was sung in Latin and the Pope blessed those present, especially the children, the sick and newlyweds.
