What would you do if your daughter left her studies to enter a cloistered convent? This is Ainara’s story.

At 17, brilliant in her studies and with a stable family environment, she was at the point of choosing what university degree to pursue. However, she felt an inner calling: she wants to dedicate her life to God.

The news surprises everyone. Her aunt tries to convince her to reconsider her decision. Her father doesn’t know how to react. The film portrays the doubts and fears that arise in the face of an unexpected vocation.

For them—for the girls who were in processes of discernment and who felt a religious vocation—all of that had a lot to do with love, with a feeling of love that filled them and led them to make this decision.
The Sundays has been with me as an idea for a long time. It was born from my curiosity about the decision of a girl who entered a religious order; it was a decision that seemed very radical to me and that I didn’t understand—and that curiosity stayed with me.

The film The Sundays has reached the big screen, promoted by Bosco Films. In Spain, it has been a success and hopes to reach theaters in Latin America and the United States soon.
