The countdown has already begun: this Sunday, November 30, we celebrate the first Sunday of Advent, and the Vatican is already preparing to experience this time of waiting.

The Christmas tree is already in St. Peter’s Square, next to the obelisk.

It is a 27-meter-tall fir tree that comes from the province of Bolzano, in the Italian region of Trentino–Alto Adige.

Next to the tree, the Nativity scene is still under construction; this year it comes from the province of Salerno, in the region of Campania, and as is customary, it will include decorative elements from the local area.

The 2025 Nativity scene will be inspired by the tradition of Nocera.
