Upon returning from Lebanon, Pope Leo XIV answered several questions from the press. This is what he said about the crisis between the United States and Venezuela.

WORDS OF THE POPE:
Regarding Venezuela, at the level of the Episcopal Conference and with the nuncio, we are looking for ways to calm the situation, seeking above all the good of the people, because so often it is the people who suffer in these situations, not the authorities. The voices coming from the United States change with some frequency at times. We'll have to see... On the one hand, it seems that there was a telephone conversation between the two presidents. On the other hand, there is that danger, that possibility of some activity, some operation, even invading Venezuelan territory. I don't know any more than that. Once again, I believe that it is, let's say, better to seek ways of dialogue, perhaps pressure, even economic pressure, but looking for another way to bring about change, if that is what the United States decides to do
