In the historic Paul VI Hall, in front of an audience of 8,000 people, Michael Bublé performed some of his greatest Christmas hits with the Nova Opera Orchestra and Msgr. Marco Frisina.
This was the Vatican's 6th edition of their Concert with the Poor, with 3,000 guests from disadvantaged backgrounds attending.
Notably, Pope Leo XIV was also in attendance. In fact, the Roman pontiff met with Michael Bublé a day prior, and they discussed any song requests the pontiff might have for the concert.
MICHAEL BUBLÉ
There were many. There were many on the list, and to be really honest, every one he asked for, I'm going to do, so if you look at the set list, this is a lot of the requests that the Holy Father made. And I think he has great taste in music.
The fact that Michael Bublé took so many of Pope Leo's requests might explain this magical moment at the concert.
Pope Leo concluded the concert by thanking those who made it possible and by noting the sacredness of music and its capacity to uplift mankind.
POPE LEO XIV
Music is like a bridge that leads us to God; it is capable of conveying feelings and emotions to the deepest parts of the soul, lifting them up and transforming them into an ideal staircase that connects earth and heaven.
With this, the Vatican's 6th edition of the Concert with the Poor came to a close, as applause and Christmas joy filled Paul VI Hall.
