Pope Leo XIV reflected on the meaning of fatherhood and motherhood during a meeting at the Vatican. He said that…

… what gives rise in parents to the desire to bring children into the world is not a necessity to have something, but a desire to give, to share in an abundance of love.

He made these remarks during a meeting with participants in the plenary assembly of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life.

POPE LEO XIV
It is essential in our communities to safeguard formative efforts aimed at respect for human life at every stage, particularly those that help prevent all forms of abuse of minors and vulnerable persons, as well as accompany and support victims.

He also noted that the formation of the faithful should not depend solely on the priest or on charismatic catechists, but on the entire Christian community.
