At the end of January, the pope met with the Catholic movement Regnum Christi. Almost a month later, he welcomed the Legionaries of Christ, the priestly branch of the same group.

Pope Leo XIV took the opportunity to clarify the role that religious authorities should play within any community or congregation.

POPE LEO XIV
Authority in religious life is not understood as domination, but as spiritual and fraternal service to those who share the same vocation.

Just as with the lay branch of Regnum Christi, the pope emphasized the importance of the charism that defines the group. Despite the historical crises the group has faced, he encouraged them to seek holiness.

POPE LEO XIV

I urge you to continue living with an attitude of prayer, humility, and interior freedom. Do not follow personal or regional interests.

It was a reminder from the pontiff for the group to grow beyond scandal, trusting instead that this new stage in the life of the religious institution will inspire greater faith in both the community and in the broader Church.
