Palm branches naturally set the mood for the Palm Sunday procession in St. Peter’s Square. During the celebration, the palms were blessed next to the square's central Obelisk and the Gospel of Matthew—recounting Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem—was proclaimed.
Gathered together with members of the Curia, concelebranting priests, altar servers, masters of ceremonies, and the faithful, Pope Leo XIV began his first Holy Week as Pontiff.
