'The Gospel of family, joy for the world. This is the title of the next World Meeting of Families, the next big event in the Catholic world after WYD. It will be in Dublin in August 2018, it has been announced today in the Vatican. The participants will reflect on the ideas the Pope proposed in his last document, 'Amoris Laetitia.

MSGR. VINCENZO PAGLIA
President, Pontifical Council for the Family
'From the beginning, the Pope assured that we have to dive deep into the topics that appear in his exhortation. It is about realizing an itinerary in order to prepare for the 2018 event.

The last World Meeting of Families was in September 2015 in Philadelphia and the final vigil was a difficult event to forget.

'My name is Mark Wahlberg and I'm so proud to be a part of this awe-inspiring event.â?

As always, these events draw a large crowd of Church followers. Although, the most anticipated moment is the Pope's presence and his advice.

POPE FRANCIS
'God knocks on the door of our hearts. (He likes to open hearts. It comes from Him.) But you know what He likes most. To knock on the doors of families and to find families who love each other.â?

The Pope's attendance will eventually be confirmed a few months before the event. Of course, there is still a long time before the event and the Pope's schedule and health will have to be assessed before a confirmation is made.

MSGR. DIARMUID MARTIN
Archbishop of Dublin (Ireland)
'The Pope told me he wants to come but we all know that his schedule is only made public within a short time before the event. Many things can change at this point.

The World Meeting of Families will be held on August 22-26, 2018. The first and last time a Pope visited Dublin was John Paul II, nearly 40 years ago. Since then, the country has changed a lot and has been dealing with the typical European problems. Its population is aging and the birth rate is less than two children per woman. This perhaps shows a level of distrust and instability on how the new generations perceive the future.
