The summit on children's rights was an event Pope Francis was determined to hold.
POPE FRANCIS
It will be an opportunity to identify new ways of assisting and protecting millions of children who are still without rights, who live in precarious conditions, who are exploited and abused, and who suffer the dramatic consequences of wars.
The objectives of the congress are several: first of all they will talk about the situation of children from different perspectives: such as their right to health, food, family and to live within a safe environment. According to the UN, 14,000 children die of hunger every day.
This summit also involves the participation of other important figures such as the Queen of Jordan, to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, to the former President of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi.
The congress will serve as a preparation for the 2nd World Children's Day, which the Pope has called for September 2026.
